Sakura Bath Bomb Review

Hey everyone!

Lately I’ve been posting A LOT of beauty related content, and on one hand I would like to apologize because I do try to post a little bit of everything for everyone….but this is the life of LEXI and recently this is what I’ve been experimenting and playing around with! So back to business, today I’m reviewing LUSH cosmetics Sakura bath bomb, to start lets review where my previous bath bombs stand in rankings:

  1. Butter bear
  2. Black berry
  3. The Experimenter
  4. Mistletoe
  5. The Sex Bomb

I have to be brutally honest, I did NOT like this bath bomb at all. I swear nothing happened when I put it in the water, and I was expecting some surprise colour to pop out because if you look at the picture above you can see some red and green in the center but nothing happened…and I didn’t find a very obvious smell to this bath bomb so I was just really kind of let down. At least with the butterbear I KNEW there wasn’t going to be any fancy colours or anything but this one shocked me because I kind of was expecting a reveal of colours and nothing happened! My skin wasn’t noticably softer either I was just extremely underwhelmed with this bath bomb

I guess the bonus to having no colour in this bath bomb means in didn’t leave a ring of colour around my bath tub but I would not pay for this bath bomb if I were you guys….it felt like I could have just had a bath without any bath bomb and it would have been the same!

Here is where this bath bomb ranks among the rest:

  1. Butter bear
  2. Black berry
  3. The Experimenter
  4. Mistletoe
  5. The Sex Bomb
  6. Sakura

Although I wasn’t a HUGE fan of The Sex Bomb because of the purple ring around my bath tub and the soggy flower petals, at least the colour and smell were amazing, my skin was noticably softer and there was effect after putting this bath bomb in the water unlike Sakura…this is why Sakura received the lowest ranking position!

What bath bomb should I try next? It doesn’t have to be from LUSH! Leave me a comment below, on my Facebook page or on my Instagram page linked below.

Summer Beauty Finds

Hey everyone!

Recently I’ve been delving more into makeup (if you haven’t noticed) I’ve been testing out new brushes, trying different looks and techniques, and looking into other products. I thought I would share with you all some of my favorite beauty finds for summer looks! I haven’t posted any prices because I figured depending on the store and where you live the price may vary. BUT I have included brand names so you can easily look them up for yourselves and find all the information you need!

vacation set.jpg

To start off, one of my summer must haves that I desperately want to get my hands on is the most recently released Vacation set from Kylie Cosmetics! I love more of a nude look to enhance the sunkissed complexion most of us receive in the summer. My favorite pieces from this collection include the highlighters and the super glitter gloss, but you all know me and you know I LOVE my matte lips so of course I’m in love with those as well!

nyx setting spray.jpg

What I also think is a GREAT addition to anyone’s make up stash, is a good setting spray. I don’t own one myself but have been thinking about purchasing one for quite a long time. This product is perfect all year round but what makes it important for summer is to help keep your makeup from sweating off your face! Since I have yet to try a setting spray I didn’t have one in particular to feature so I picked NYX’s matte setting spray!

simple glam girls oval brushes.jpg

I recently received the oval make up brush set from Simple Glam Girls, and honestly I’m so in love. It provides such an even application of liquid foundation that I don’t think I’ll ever use another make up brush for liquid foundation ever again. This is NOT a sponsored post I seriously am just so in love that I think you all NEEED to add it into your summer beauty routine! If you want to I will plug in that I have a code fro 20% off your purchase called ‘lexi20’ use it at the checkout to save a bit of cash! (their website is linked below for you to checkout their goods!)

tinted moisturizer.jpg

And finally, if you’re looking for something to wear that’s super light weight for the summer time go for a tinted moisturizer instead! I use the brand elf, and what I love is that it has SPF sunscreen in it, so even though you’re wearing makeup you still receive some protection for the sun! Unfortunately for us acne prone girls, it doesn’t provide a lot of coverage but hey, sometimes you’ve got to pick your battles!

What are your favorite beauty products to use in the summer time? Leave me a comment below, on my Facebook page OR on my Instagram page!

Hydration!!!

Hey everyone!

I know I’ve talked about this before…but as the weather heats up here in Canada for the summer I thought it would be super important to bring this topic back up again…. It is incredibly important to stay hydrated! Make sure you’re drinking lots of water (not just in the summer time but it’s ESPECIALLY important in the summer time) In this blog post I’ll be highlighting some of the negative impacts you might experience if you’re not getting enough water, the awesome benefits of drinking lots of water AND I’ll give you all some yummy alternatives to spice up your dull water.

To begin, if you’re not drinking enough water in a day you might experience: thirst (duh), headaches, dry mouth/eyes/skin, low energy, disoriented, muscle cramps or spasms. In the summer, being exposed to the heat can lead to dehydration which means you need to be drinking MORE water than usual. If you’re in the heat, and dehydrated this can lead to heat cramps, heat exhaustion or heat/sun stroke! So stay hydrated my friends.

If you need additional incentives to stay hydrated here are some benefits to drinking water:

  • Increases energy/decreases fatigue
  • Promotes weight loss
  • Flushes toxins from the body
  • Improves skin complexion
  • Maintains regularity
  • Boosts Immune System

I know sometimes drinking water can feel like a chore, and you might prefer a sugary drink instead but something really important to remember is that those sugary drinks are filled with EMPTY CALORIES one pop can have up to 300 calories per bottle and it doesn’t make you feel full! If you’re not a huge fan of drinking plain water try adding fruits to the water to change the taste.

If you add citrus to your water like grapefruit, lemons, limes or oranges, you get additional Vitamin C which gives your immune system a boost, it aids in digestion which is why you might see a lot of people calling lemon water “detox water” TBH thats just a fancy name for water that makes u shit a lot LOL (not sorry)

If you add cucumber to your water it has been known to help bad breath, AND it is high in Vitamin B-5, which has been used to treat acne.

If you add berries to your water (especially blueberries) are high in antioxidants (I have a blog post that I will link below discussing antioxidants) but essentially, adding berries to your water will taste awesome AND additionally help flush toxins from your body.

And finally, if you add apples to your water you can boost your metabolism, increase your fibre intake, regulate blood sugar. If you enjoy apples an cinnamon you can add a pinch of cinnamon and get some extra flavour and benefits like curbing appetite, lowering your blood sugar, and treat cramps/stomach pains.

That’s all for today everyone! So again, make sure you’re taking in LOTS of water this summer season. Do you LOVE flavored water? Tell me what your favorite kind is in the comment section below, on my Facebook page, or on my Instagram page.

Lexi

Simple Glam Girls Oval Makeup Brush Review

Hey everyone!

If you’re familiar with social media you’ve probably seen oval makeup brushes dominating the makeup scene…..And an average makeup user like myself has constantly been wondering “what’s the difference?” “are they any good?” I’m here to LET YOU KNOW.

I recently received my oval makeup brush set from Simple Glam Girls (I will link their website below if you’re interested in checking their products out!) My first impression of the brushes online is that I was afraid they would be stiff or rough on my face, but these brushes are actually SO SOFT. I was shocked, I’m not sure why I would assume makeup brushes would be rough but that’s just the way I pictured them from seeing images on social media.

I’m not a certified make up artist, I’m just an average girl who enjoys playing around with makeup. So I’m quite aware that I don’t always use makeup the “proper” way or I might use the wrong brush for the wrong item of makeup, but hey that’s life. Yesterday I attempted to use these oval makeup brushes, and I’m not going to lie….I only used one. BUT I LOVED IT.

I used the largest oval brush to apply my liquid foundation, as opposed to my e.l.f cosmetics foundation brush, and I am probably never going to use that e.l.f brush ever again. This large oval brush has put itself into my daily make up routine. It is so soft on your face, blends incredibly, NO streaky finishes that you get from brushes. It cut down the actual time I spend trying to put my liquid foundation on probably in half.

For me, I was not quite sure all the uses for these brushes, which was one of the reasons I only used one brush. But I’m so in love with it I can’t wait to look up other ways to use these brushes and to try them out!

If you’re interested in purchasing a product from Simple Glam Girls be sure to use my code ‘lexi20’ to get 20% off your purchase. If you already have a set, I would love to hear YOUR opinion, or how you use these brushes in your makeup routines! Leave me a comment below, on my Facebook page, or on my Instagram page.

June Goals

Hey everyone!

You know what time it is. New month, new goals. You should probably be used to it by now right?

Well lets just recap ALL of my goals before we go any further:

  • September – Go to the gym 3-4 times a week
  • October – Drink 1 water bottle a day
  • November – Eat a 300 calorie breakfast every day
  • December – Wake up before 10:30 AM
  • January – NO GOALS
  • February – No eating after 10 PM
  • March – Better dental care
  • April – Daily push ups
  • May – No caffeine

Yesterday I analyzed my daily goal tracker, so you’re all aware that eating a 300 calorie breakfast last month wasn’t working, you know getting into my “no caffeine” goal was a rocky start AND you know that I lost a little bit of motivation as the month went on to continue with my daily push ups.

Here’s what I’m gonna do about it/change about my goals:

Last month I pushed December’s goal of waking up at 10 AM up to 10:30 AM because I somehow still couldn’t get out of bed before or at 10 AM. Every box but one was coloured in this month so I’m going to push it BACK to 10 AM again.

Like I’ve previously mentioned I will be adding 5 seconds on to my daily push ups so this month I will be doing 1 minute and 10 seconds of push ups every day.

I think my no caffeine goal will look better this month because I don’t get those awful withdrawal headaches anymore so going without coffee for more than one or two days in a row is A LOT easier now! So I want to see how well this next month goes.

As for my 300 calorie breakfast, I haven’t been doing that as much because I work a lot of 7-3 shifts, but now that a lot of restaurants offer a calorie count I’ve done some looking and I know what I can eat on my lunch OR I want to start meal prepping so I know my food isn’t fast food! I’m not getting rid of this goal just because it didn’t go well this month!

For this month….my goal is……NOTHING.

That’s right, nothing. I’m going to do exactly what I did in January and take the month to make sure all my goals are on track before adding anything to it. With my Daily Goal Tracker I want to use last months results to motivate me to do better this month since nothing will be much different! I think this will help with my daily push ups, competing against myself to do more than I did last month!

Have you set goals for this month? Let me know what they are in the comments section below, on my Facebook page, or on my Instagram page all linked below!

Daily Goal Tracker Analysis – May

Hey everyone!

Today I’m going to be looking over my daily goals for May and telling you what worked for me this past month and what definitely didn’t work for this month!

The above picture is my completed daily goal tracker. As you can see there is a lack of YELLOW, LIGHT BLUE and BLUE.

My yellow row is eating a 300 calorie breakfast. May 1st I started working morning shifts (getting up before 7am) which meant that I usually didn’t eat before breakfast and didn’t eat until around 10am and by then I would just eat whatever. For next month I’m definitely going to be working on eating before I go to work to get my 300 calorie breakfast in.

The light blue row is my daily push ups. As you can see I started off strong in the beginning of May and it slowly dwindled away. I’ve noticed as the month goes on I lack motivation to complete ALL my daily goals. Push ups being my least favorite I avoid the heck out of it. BUT that’s the exact reason why it’s a daily goal, because my arm day at the gym is pathetic.

The blue row is not drinking caffeine for the day. During the school I literally was addicted to caffeine so I wanted my goal to cut out caffeine completely. I had a rocky start at the beginning of the month because I would get withdrawal headaches from not having caffeine. Plus working at Tim Hortons is way too tempting. I have a good groove going right now though so next month will be even better!

Tune in tomorrow to see what my goals for June are, as well as what’s changing about my goals for May!

Did you accomplish your May goals? Let me know by leaving a comment below, on my Facebook page, or on my Instagram page.
